In my opinion NT4 is still a solid product and people need not upgrade unless connectivity issues arrise with other servers on the network, or equipment needs to be upgraded. That does'nt say its as good as Windows 2000, All "new" servers should have windows 2000 loads and when it comes time to replace that NT4 box plan the upgrade.

It took me about eight  months of studying about one hour a day after work to complete my MCSE certification.

Network Essentials Exam # 70-058

NT Workstation 4.0 Exam # 70-073

NT Server 4.0 Exam # 70-067

NT Server 4.0 in the Enterprise Exam # 70-068

IIS 4.0 Exam # 70-087

TCPIP 4.0 Exam # 70-059

Preparation for these tests involved setting up a network in my basement, lots of practice, experimenting, and head banging with the NT4 product. I used the exam cram series for all tests with other "BIG" books as reference points on subjects that were shaky

Micosoft likes to change their minds .....

At first they said all NT4 certification will expire and people must upgrade credentials to Windows 2000 platform. They offered a upgrade test that takes 4 Hours to complete and me being the cheap person I am took it and failed. 4 tests packed into 1, as it is I have to study about a month to get ready for a test. One good thing came of it ... I studied alot and was able to take the first two tests within two weeks of each other.

Next in October (Just after I achived MCSE Windows 2000) they said the MCSE NT4 people will still retain their certifications. Their resoning was that NT4 will be around for a while longer (DUH.. that's what we have been trying to tell them the past year) and certifications will stay as long as people still heavily use the product.
